On-Campus Resident Resources

Internet access, approved devices and network guidelines for on campus housing.

Routers

Bring a router if you need to connect more than one device to the internet. Your router must have the ability to turn off its wireless signal. See instructions on setting up a router.

Extra-long Ethernet Cables

To connect your tech devices to your router and to the internet, we recommend cables approximately 20 feet long to give you the most flexibility in your room. Full list of approved devices & set up.

Printers

If you bring a printer, make sure it has a USB or Bluetooth connection. Do not bring a printer that only operates wirelessly.

The Texas A&M Internet of Things (IoT) wireless network (TAMU_IoT) provides internet access to devices that can't connect to TAMU WiFi (Alexa, wireless printers, etc.), while allowing the university to link devices to a campus member's account, ensuring the network stays safe.

Acceptable Use of the Network

The Texas A&M University network is governed by rules covering responsibilities when connecting to the network. All Texas A&M students must follow these rules while using the campus network. Ignorance of the rules is not a valid excuse. Please review the rules as you begin your semester to avoid legal consequences.

Texas A&M offers cable TV and streaming services such as HBO Max. Learn how to connect to cable in your residence hall.
