Active Threat?

In case of an IT Security Incident involving an active, ongoing threat to campus IT resources, call Help Desk Central at 979.845.8300.

What should I report?

Your vigilance is our best defense against cyber threats. Please report any suspicious activity or potential security issue, no matter how small it may seem. This includes things like:

A computer acting abnormally
Unauthorized access of university data
Compromised account, password, or email
An email that seems fraudulent
Documents inappropriately shared on a website

Sensitive Data Incident

Report any suspected unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss of university data. This includes student records (FERPA), PII (e.g. SSNs, credit card numbers, or bank account numbers), or sensitive research data. Prompt reporting is critical to protecting the individuals affected and meeting our legal obligations.

Non-Emergency Security Incident

Anyone may report illegal, disruptive, or suspicious activity impacting Texas A&M technology at any time.

This option is appropriate for security concerns that do not involve immediate, active threats to campus.

HIPAA Violation

Report any suspected unauthorized use or disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI) that is created, stored, or transmitted by the university. This includes patient or research subject data covered under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Privacy Complaint

Submit a complaint if you believe your personal information has been collected, used, or shared in a way that violates university privacy policies. Your report helps us ensure university practices align with our commitment to individual privacy.

Misuse of University IT

Any complaints involving the use of university IT resources. This could include violations of state law, System policy, and/or university rules. This is also an avenue for reporting suspected fraud, waste, or abuse.

Email Abuse

Report harassing or threatening messages, or the misuse of a university email account to send such content. This helps us improve our email filters and enforce the university's acceptable use policy.

Phishing

Report any message that tries to trick you into revealing personal information, such as your password, university financial details, or other login information. These phishing messages often look legitimate but link to fake websites designed to steal your information.
