Overview

1Password is a secure password management tool for storing and organizing credentials and sensitive data. Texas A&M provides eligible employees with access for university business use. Technology Services has selected 1Password as the only approved password manager at Texas A&M University.

Getting Started

Only certain departments use 1Password. To see if you are eligible, please contact your department's IT support team. To activate a 1Password account, email password-management@tamu.edu to open a ticket. Follow the instructions in the activation email. 

Your initial login to 1Password must occur in a web browser (this creates a trusted device). Then log in to the desktop or mobile app (opens in new window) to establish additional trusted devices.

Service Details

  • Two types of vaults: Personal and Shared
    • Personal vaults are private and created automatically
    • Shared vaults allow collaboration and are created via web, desktop, or mobile app
  • Texas A&M and 1Password cannot access vault content
  • A 1Password Families membership for personal use is included (for up to 5 family members). It is separate from the TAMU account and is not supported by Texas A&M. Family memberships must be paid by the user if employment ends.
