Overview

TAMU AI Chat (currently in BETA) provides staff, faculty, researchers, and students with a secure, university-approved platform to access multiple artificial intelligence (AI) tools like OpenAI’s GPT, Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet, and Google’s Gemini. This platform enables users to efficiently complete tasks, brainstorm ideas, analyze data, and engage in various other productivity-enhancing activities.

Getting Started

To use TAMU AI Chat, log in with your NetID and password at https://tamu.ai/. You must be a Texas A&M employee or student to use the platform. Comprehensive resources, including a Getting Started Guide, Frequently Asked Questions, detailed Model Descriptions, and API Documentation, are available at the TAMU AI Chat Documentation portal: https://docs.tamus.ai/.

Cost

The initial development and launch of the TAMU AI Chat service were funded by The Texas A&M University System. Campus members will receive a limited number of free tokens each day to use. The tokens are renewed between 6 - 7 p.m. each day. In the future, campus members will be able to purchase additional tokens.

Service Details

Unlike public versions of AI tools, your TAMU AI Chat sessions are explicitly not used to train external AI models, providing critical data protection and ensuring compliance with university policies. Please note that sessions may be accessed by the service owner for troubleshooting purposes and to support future TAMU AI Chat enhancements.

Features

  • Multi-Model Access: Access a range of AI models, including OpenAI models like GPT-4 series, Anthropic’s Claude 3.x Sonnet, Google’s Gemini 2.x, and more. New commercial models will be added as they are released and vetted.
  • Comparative Analysis & Merging: Use one or multiple AI models simultaneously by clicking the '+' icon to run prompts across various models concurrently, compare responses, and merge multi-model outputs into a single, optimized result.
  • Productivity Enhancement: Get help writing/improving content, analyzing data, summarizing long documents, conducting research, coding, and brainstorming ideas.
  • Robust Data Protection: Unlike public versions of AI tools, your TAMU AI Chat sessions are explicitly not used to train external AI models. Sessions may be accessed by Technology Services team members for troubleshooting and future enhancements.
  • Chat History Management: Chat history is saved, making it easy to return to previous chats. Users have the option to mark a session as "temporary" if it does not need to be retained.
  • API Integration: An OpenAI-compatible API is available for advanced users and developers, facilitating integration with personal tools and workflows for departmental or research team automations.
  • Current Limitation: Image generation capabilities are not available through TAMU AI Chat at this time.
