Secondary NetID
Overview
Secondary NetID accounts are individual accounts used to access systems requiring elevated privileges. These accounts are linked to a primary NetID and are deactivated when the individual is no longer affiliated with Texas A&M.
Getting Started
Use the Proxy Account Management Tool to manage special accounts like Secondary NetIDs.
Request
Texas A&M employees must request secondary NetIDs by completing a Secondary NetID Request Form.
Student system administrators must grant system access separately.
Service Details
- Separate NetID for elevated privilege access, ensures separation of privilege-based access
- Tied to a primary NetID and deactivated when the user leaves the university
- Individual IT administrators grant system-level access and not automatically provisioned
- Managed via Proxy Account Management Tool
Guidelines
- Use only for administrative or special access needs
- Do not use as a personal NetID substitute
- Follow university IT policy for account usage and security
