TechHub’s Drives Millions in Savings and Streamlines Purchasing Across Campus

TechHub Year Savings Image

The first full year of TechHub operations brought more than new technology orders; it delivered measurable savings, faster service, and a simpler way for Texas A&M University departments to purchase secure, standardized hardware.

Launched in 2023 as the university’s centralized technology procurement program, TechHub is designed to make buying technology easier, faster, and more cost-effective. By offering pre-configured, vetted hardware through AggieBuy, TechHub helps units get the right equipment without the hassle of comparing vendors, managing quotes, or waiting on approvals.

“TechHub has been instrumental with equipment procurements this past year,” said Israel De Leon, IT Manager II for Academic Operations. “They’ve expedited the process while removing some of the tedious tasks that can consume your day.”

Efficiency and Growth in FY25

From September 2024 through August 2025, TechHub processed more than 2,200 orders totaling $6.6 million in revenue, with strong demand throughout spring and summer. Customers purchased 3,400 computers and 6,500 accessories, contributing to a 50 percent year-over-year increase in revenue.

Peak sales arrived in August 2025, with $791,000 in monthly revenue and a median order value of $1,700, a clear reflection of TechHub’s growing role in campus procurement cycles.

Driving Campuswide Savings

Through centralized pricing and vendor partnerships, TechHub saved the university $2.4 million in FY25, averaging $655 in savings per computer. The program’s largest single order came from University Audio Visual Services, totaling nearly $175,000 for 140 computers.

Texas A&M Health led all divisions in total savings at $369,000, followed closely by the College of Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences.

“Centralization and consistency continue to pay off for our customers,” said Tom Wood, Director of TechHub. “By consolidating orders and leveraging scale, we’re helping departments stretch their budgets further while maintaining secure, compliant configurations.”

Faster Service, Fewer Delays

Operational speed also improved across the board. In FY25, TechHub shortened its average approval time to 1.7 business days and fulfillment to 1.9 days, achieving a 93 percent on-time delivery rate.

Automation through AggieBuy and TeamDynamix workflows saved the university 5,830 labor hours, while new pre-deployment testing and daily delivery runs reduced downtime for departments.

“TechHub has provided an invaluable service to Texas A&M Health,” said Garrett LaPaglia, IT Executive Director for Academic Operations. “The communication and efficiency we see from the team are outstanding; they’re motivated to serve, and it shows.”

Expanding Adoption and Inclusion

Even after completing College Station onboarding in FY24, TechHub continued to grow in FY25. Adoption rose 19 percent over the year and 47 percent compared to FY24, with TechHub assets now accounting for 67 percent of all technology purchases.

The program also maintained a 98.7 percent utilization rate of Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs), reinforcing Texas A&M’s commitment to vendor diversity and equitable business opportunities.

Looking Ahead

In the coming year, TechHub will expand its reach across the Texas A&M University System by broadening product offerings, analyzing spending trends, and introducing new warranty and equipment repair services. These efforts aim to reduce costs, minimize downtime, and improve long-term support for faculty and staff.

“FY25 showed how impactful collaboration and standardization can be,” Wood added. “We’re proud of the progress we’ve made and excited to extend those benefits to even more customers across the System.”
