New Site, Who Dis? Meet the New IT.tamu.edu!

Explore IT at Texas A&M

The Texas A&M community's connection with technology now has a new home. Technology Services recently launched the redesigned IT.tamu.edu website, offering a faster, more intuitive, and more accessible platform for students, faculty, and staff to locate the tools and support they rely on daily.

This project, which began in early 2025, represents a significant milestone in how Texas A&M delivers technology information and services. Built from the ground up based on user feedback, the new site modernizes the look and feel of IT.tamu.edu, simplifies navigation, and improves access to key resources, all while laying the foundation for future growth.

“This redesign is about making technology easier to access and understand,” said Lacey Baze, Technology Services' Assistant Vice President of Product Management. “Whether you’re a student logging in to campus services, a faculty member preparing for class, or a researcher looking for technology resources, our goal was to create a site that connects you to what you need quickly and clearly.”

A Modern, Streamlined Experience

The new IT.tamu.edu features a clean, modern design built to improve the experience of every visitor. Navigation has been restructured to make it easier to find information, while key tools and services are now just a click away.

The site is also fully optimized for mobile devices, ensuring students and staff can access critical information wherever they are. Each service page has been rewritten with clear, accessible language and follows a consistent format that includes an overview, setup steps, costs, features, requirements, and support details. This structure makes it simple to understand what a service offers and how to get started.

Designed With Data and Feedback

The redesign of IT.tamu.edu was driven by data and real user behavior from the very beginning. Teams utilized heatmaps, site analytics, and user testing sessions to understand how students, faculty, and staff interacted with the previous site, including where they clicked, what they searched for, and the obstacles they encountered. That information guided everything from the new site structure to the placement of links and buttons.

The result is a website designed around how the Aggie community actually uses technology resources. Every decision, from page layout to navigation menus, was made with the goal of helping users reach the tools and services they need faster and with fewer clicks.

Support Where You Need It

Getting help with technology is now simpler and more accessible than ever. As part of the redesign, Help Desk Central has a dedicated page on IT.tamu.edu, giving students, faculty, and staff a central location to find troubleshooting resources, contact information, and support options.

Access to support is now built directly into the site’s main navigation, ensuring it’s visible from every page. A prominent “Get Help” link at the top of the site connects users directly to Help Desk Central resources, making it faster to open a support ticket, find self-service guides, or get in touch with a technician. These changes are designed to eliminate barriers and help the campus community resolve issues promptly, allowing them to stay focused on their work, teaching, and learning.

Built by Collaboration Across Campus

The redesign is the result of extensive collaboration across Technology Services and the broader university community. Our teams worked over many months to migrate the site to a new cloud-based platform, manage a complex DNS cutover, reorganize content, improve accessibility, and incorporate feedback from students, faculty, and staff at every stage.

“This was a true team effort,” said Allison Oslund, Program Director of Product Management, Technology Services. “From the technical migration to the content strategy, every part of this project reflects the dedication of our staff and the value of team collaboration.”

Standardized Service Pages Built for Clarity

One of the most impactful changes in the redesign is the introduction of standardized service pages. Every technology service offered by Texas A&M now follows the same clear, easy-to-navigate layout, designed to help users quickly find the information they need without confusion.

Another major improvement is the site’s deeper integration with the IT Service Portal, allowing users to request help, submit a support ticket, or report an issue directly from the same place they learn about a service. This streamlined experience reduces the number of steps required to get assistance and helps ensure faster resolutions.

In addition to this standardized structure, the redesigned site now includes role-specific service pages, making it easier for students, faculty, staff, and researchers to see the tools and resources most relevant to them. A dedicated login page consolidates access to frequently used systems and applications in one convenient place. At the same time, a comprehensive A–Z service list and services by category page provide a complete directory of available services across campus technology.

This consistent and user-focused approach ensures that members of the Aggie community can quickly find what they need, whether they’re connecting to Wi-Fi, installing Microsoft 365, requesting a new account, or exploring new tools to support their work and learning.

Looking Ahead: Phase 2 in Progress

Although the new IT.tamu.edu is live, the work is far from over. The project is now in Phase 2, focused on continuous improvement and user-driven enhancements. Upcoming efforts include expanding the number of service pages, refining content based on user feedback, improving site search and discoverability, and exploring new integrations with campus systems.

Feedback will play a key role in shaping this next phase. Our customers are encouraged to share their ideas and suggestions by completing our feedback form or emailing tamu-IT-coms@tamu.edu.
