Project Progress
Thanks to the investment of university and System leadership, the Next Generation Aggie Network will put Texas A&M on track to expand our impact and increase innovation. The network will be faster, stronger and more secure.
Coupled with long-term, sustainable funding and service delivery strategies — the new network will provide a modern, resilient and secure research and education network to better meet the future demands of Texas A&M educators, researchers and students.
Project Update
As we end 2025 and the fall semester, the Next Generation Aggie Network project is celebrating some big accomplishments.
- 97% of the 23,000+ Wireless APs have been installed across campus
- 83% of the buildings have updated WiFi, including all residence halls!
- Networking switch upgrades are complete in all buildings, and the first building has been migrated to the new networking core using automation tools
The January 5 core migration is an important part of the effort to update the networking infrastructure on campus. The university community will experience a planned network outage at 8 p.m. CST on Monday, Jan. 5, until 6 a.m. CST on Tuesday, Jan. 6. The network outage will affect the entire Texas A&M University main campus and other select Texas A&M locations.
